Stepping Stones

Growing in Faith Together

Stepping Stones are intentional times when caregivers and their students gather to be equipped to grow in faith together and to grow in faith habits that can be used at home. This is a ministry that supports Immanuel families to live out their faith in their homes and in real life. We invite parents and student to gather for Stepping Stones each year (most include a multi-week caregiver and student series which culminates with a blessing before the congregation).

Faith Habits for Families

Stepping Stones supports, encourages and equips families to live out their faith in their homes. A couple tools to assist you with growing faith in your home:

7th Grade & Parents: Welcome to Acolyting & Confirmation

September 11, 18, 25, 2024

6:15pm in Luther Hall

Blessing: There will be a blessing of seventh graders and parents during welcome weekend worship on Sunday, September 8, 2024

7th graders and their parents are invited to intentionally start the Confirmation process with one another during this introductory Stepping Stone. Students and their parents will continue to grow in faith together and will walk through acolyting procedures, sermon note taking, family devotions, Bible reading, highs and lows, small groups structure and the details of Confirmation ministry. We'll work together towards building effective student/parent relationships as students begin their journey through adolescence.

8th Grade and Parents: Respectful Relationships

February 5, 9, 12, 2025

6:15pm and 10:30am in Luther Hall

Blessing: There will be a blessing of eighth graders and parents at the end of the Stepping Stone in worship on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Your 8th grade child is soon to make the transition into the high school! Are you ready for this transition? Is your 8th grader ready for this transition? Your children are surrounded by change as they themselves are changing. They are changing physically, emotionally and spiritually right before our eyes - becoming young adults! Isn’t it exciting?! This is a series to assist youth and their parents as Christian youth become Christian young adults. This is NOT a series on the “Birds and the Bees”! Those issues are covered by you, the parent, and in your child’s health class.

Designed for student/parent(s) to work on together during the session.

9th Grade and Parents: Stepping Behind the Wheel

January 8, 12, 15, 2024

6:15pm and 10:30am in Luther Hall

Blessing: There will be a blessing of ninth graders and parents at the end of the Stepping Stone in worship on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

What are the ground rules for using the car? Who pays for the gas, insurance, maintenance and/or traffic tickets? Who can ride in the car with the new driver? When and where can the car be used? What are appropriate boundaries for your child’s driving? Basic car maintenance issues. How can students stand up to negative peer pressure? Drinking and driving. What does it mean to be a Christian driver? 9th Grade is a year when many students begin driver’s education and go through the process of getting their driver’s license. This is a significant milestone in the life of the student, and the parents, as many issues surrounding this milestone impact family life. This Stepping Stone series will include many opportunities for parent/student discussion and time to work towards developing a Driving Covenant.
