A Racial Justice Statement for Immanuel has been written by a group of members to state our intention as a congregation to continue to work towards justice in the world, particularly regarding race issues. The statement, as shared below, was adopted by the Church Council on November 11, 2020.
Racial Justice Statement:
“What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”–Micah 6:8
Immanuel Lutheran Church commits to advancing racial equity and justice by following our vision, “God is calling us to reach deeper into our congregation and further out into our community to better know and care for one another.” We confess our participation in the sin of racism, which includes things we have done or left undone. God calls us to be a vulnerable community of listeners and learners who seek to understand and oppose racism in ourselves and our society.
Immanuel Lutheran Church is called to care and sent to serve in pursuit of racial justice.
