Recommended Personal Gear:

Clothing recommendation: NO COTTON. It is extremely heavy when wet and takes a long time to dry out. Bring synthetic clothing as much as possible, as it wicks moisture away from your body and dries much quicker.

  • Hiking Boots/Shoes: Expect to get your feet wet each and every day. Waterproof boots will NOT work. Open toed sandals are NOT recommended - the terrain can be full of bare roots, sharp rocks, and there are leeches in the water.
  • 2nd pair of footwear for campsite (you want to get out of your wet shoes every evening)
  • Socks - one pair per day
  • Pants - 1 pair long for evening (quick drying, No jeans)
  • Shorts - 1 pair for day time
  • Shirt - 1 long sleeve for sun/bug protection
  • Shirt - short sleeve (2)
  • underwear/bra
  • Sleeping shirt
  • jacket/fleece
  • Rain suit - jacket w/ hood & pants -- waterproof
  • Broad-brim hat
  • Swim suit
  • Bug repellent
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, chapstick
  • Flashlight - headlamp
  • Pocket knife
  • Toiletry items - toothbrush, comb, medication
  • Water bottle - 1-quart with an attached cap
  • Towel - light-weight and quick dry for after swimming
  • Pillow case or other thin nylon bag to put your clothes in during trip (then put this inside the Duluth pack you will be sharing with one other person)
  • Clean clothes for the trip home (leave in car)

***Remember, pack SMART! Everything we pack will be carried in your canoe or on your back -- every pound counts!
