PROP Summer Food for Kids Program 2026

During the summer, when children do not receive free lunch at school, our local food shelf, PROP, provides additional food to their families. Families often have difficulty securing enough food in the summer months. Last summer the program fed more than 800 school age kids healthy and nutritious food! PROP is a valuable partner of Immanuel's and we have supported the Summer Food for Kids drive for many years. In recent years we have collected cans of tuna fish with much generosity and success! This year, however, PROP has asked that we consider raising $1000 in financial donations. Food shelves can purchase food in bulk at discounted prices at places like Second Harvest Heartland where donating $1 has the potential of buying 3 meals! 2025 Bingo Benefit for PROP

September 13, 2025

Each year Immanuel hosts a Bingo Benefit for PROP under a giant tent in our parking lot, as a part of our Welcome Weekend activities.  Hundreds of volunteer hours make this fun, important day happen!  Over $2,500 was raised at our 2024 event!

What does PROP do?

PROP offers food programs that nourish the body, plus comprehensive social services and support to nourish the minds of Eden Prairie and Chanhassen residents, so they can gain confidence, regain control, and lead healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives within our community. Immanuel supports the work of our local food shelf in caring for our neighbors by:

• Gathering non-perishable food donations in our PROP cupboard located outside of Fellowship Hall.
• Giving financial support through Benevolence dollars and designated giving.
• Supporting the Holiday Gift Program.
• Supporting the Summer Food for Kids Program. (In 2019 over 1000 boxes of granola bars were donated by Immanuel members.)

• Food Shelf hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30am to 1:00pm and Wednesday 4:00pm-6:30pm. To place a monthly food order, last check in at the front office is 12:45pm (M-F) and 6:15pm (Wed eve)
• Short term or emergency financial assistance is available
• PROP also offers wrap around services such as employment assistance, financial mentoring, nutritional coaching, and enrichment programs for youth and seniors.

Volunteer at PROP:

PROP has a variety of volunteer opportunities within food operations, front office, and support systems. All volunteer positions are weekly ongoing commitments, with a commitment of at least 30 hours of service over a three month period. Orientation and training sessions are required for all volunteer positions except special projects or drivers. Learn more about the positions, hours and responsibilities here.
