Immanuel's Ministry Partner in Mexico

2026 AMEXTRA trip

Join Deacon Savannah in visiting our ministry partner, AMEXTRA, as we learn from and reflect on the incredible work they do serving marginalized communities in Mexico. September 21-26 we will be joining Pastor Ruben Duran and a group with folks from across the ELCA to visit Mexico City. The focus of this trip will be to learn more about the theology and methodology of AMEXTRA, to see their transformational ministry in action, and to reflect on how we can bring these lessons back to our own home and lives as we accompany our neighbors here in Minnesota who have been marginalized. Additionally, there will be a focus on increasing our understanding of Latine culture by visiting a number of key cultural and historical sites such as the Basilica of the Virgen of Guadalupe, the Pyramids of Teotihuacan, the Casa Azul of Frida Kahlo, and more!

To learn more, please join us for a zoom meeting on April 28th at 7pm (REGISTER for meeting)

AMEXTRA's:

Excerpt from a December 2020 Thank You letter from AMEXTRA: 'These donations from Immanuel are so helpful in Lomas where this year has brought a lot of new challenges. Thanks to your support and that of others like you we have been able to keep providing educational support in Lomas, hiring another education promotor (Emma) to help Mariana. We also have some exciting news that we will be looking to hire a psychologist to be a part of the team in Lomas and help attend to children with issues of trauma or other needs of psychological accompaniment.  It is great to share these project improvements with you and all the congregation at Immanuel, knowing that you are a huge part of this program´s continued success.

For 30 years Immanuel has supported, encouraged and partnered with the work of Amextra in Lomas de San Isidro - on the eastern edge of Mexico City.
